Blake Shelton spent twelve storied years and a whopping 22 seasons of serving as a judge on NBC’s ‘The Voice.’ But he announced yesterday that he would officially be stepping down.
The country music legend has played a key role on the show since its inception in 2011. He is currently the only remaining of the original judges, which included Adam Levine, Christina Aguilera, and CeeLo Green.
Shelton posted his statement on Twitter on October 11th. Shelton said that he will be leaving after season 23, so fans of the show will still get to enjoy the rest of this season and next season with him as a judge.

The news comes as a bit of a shock, considering that season 22 only just began and Shelton’s wife, Gwen Stefani, returned to the show as a judge this season.
Is Anyone Else Leaving?
With this announcement, we now know that none of the current judges will be returning after season 23. The season 23 judges include Shelton, returning judge Kelly Clarkson, Chance the Rapper, and Niall Horan (One Direction).
