After an incredible start to the season, with an undefeated 8-0 start, the Vols finally lose. The Vols fell to the No. 3 Georgia Bulldogs on Saturday night in a heartbreaking loss.

The two schools have some of the most electric offenses in the league. But the Georgia defense put on a top-notch performance that effectively shut down the powerful Vols offense.

The Bulldogs held Tennessee to just 6 points in the first half and 13 points in the game. The Vols didn’t score their first TD until the fourth quarter. And with a season-high 6 sacks, it’s clear that Georgia came ready to play. The final score was 27-13, Georgia.

The Season So Far

Tennessee has had an incredible season so far with the top-ranking offense in the league. To this point, they had averaged 553 yards per game, 49.4 points per game, and had a 198.51 passing efficiency.

The University of Tennessee has been 8-0 so far this season, dominating the league. They’ve even secured big victories over schools like long-time rival Alabama.

What’s Next for the Vols?

This win puts Georgia at the top of the league with a whopping 9-0 record, but Tennessee are still contenders for the four-team playoffs with an impressive 8-1 record. With the way the rest of the league is shaping up, even if the Vols lose another game, they could potentially still qualify for the playoffs.

Time will tell if the Vols can power through this loss and carry on to the playoffs. But one thing is for sure: this exciting season is far from over.
